Hello and welcome to the Digital Nomads Edu. Tribe! I’m T. Raven Meyers (Sewalelot), the founder and creative director of DNE. I’m a mindful mediapreneur, and holistic midwife planting seeds of change locally and globally through a digital storytelling with my husband Matteo and our young sons Soren-Jai & Ayden Skye.
What is Digital Nomads Edu.?
DNE is a comprehensive e-learning & gamification platform that empowers students, social entrepreneurs and parents to learn in a mindful and visual way. We offer a multi-faceted educational system for:
- higher education students (pre-med, nursing, high school AP)
- IEP (special needs)
- social entrepreneurs
- non-profit and cause related businesses
- holistic midwifery (students), parenting & birth
- spiritual wellness and Eastern studies
We here at Digital Nomads Edu. strive to create tools that serve a style of learner that every person can relate to on some level, but often forget to include in the standard information-learning paradigm. We infuse our mindful business strategies, and lifestyle into our educational platforms in all areas of education with a strong emphasis on game-based, peer to peer learning and visual storytelling.
OUR MINDFUL BUSINESS MODEL
Digital Nomad Edu. was born from the experiences of my husband Matteo and I, with the intention to serve others who search for a more mindful and compassionate business model, and learning environment. Matteo has a strong background in community & environmental development and is global food trotter! He’s also the finance guru of our company!
Our family are true digital nomads, moving from place to place in service to various foundations, clients, and communities, we have mastered the “on-the-road” and “office-without-borders” lifestyle since 2002.
In recent years my entrepreneurial work has moved increasingly towards digital design and transmedia as an educational technologist. Soon I developed talents in game design & strategy as a companion to my design & technology background. Together with my husband Matteo, I began to develop ways to enhance our children’s education through gamification as we traveled the world. I ran my private practice in family wellness and midwifery while building a strong online presence.
Still at a young age, Soren-Jai & Ayden Skye did not see these new informal methods of study as being anything other than normal. As they began to study lessons in reading, writing and arithmetic through game based models we noticed trends in their developmental progression and level of retention.
The partnership between the real-world applications that came from our nomadic lifestyle, coupled with the infusion of game based models in their study practices, consistently enhanced their abilities to imbibe and recall information. We scored!
After witnessing the massive gaps worldwide in education, and the growing need for new academic tools to support those pursuing opportunities that required advanced learning, we found a way to make a difference. While supporting the academic endeavors of those in first-world nations, our company has a mindful purpose. Together with the growing need for media based education, our family hopes to aid in creating a world in which students from every country, in every discipline, consider themselves part of one digital nomadic community. We hope to revolutionize the education system and create one in which social good, gamification and hands-on experiences are respected tools for learning.
We’ve all heard “P2P” used as an acronym for peer-to-peer gaming. But, at Digital Nomad Edu. we use Play-To-Pass gaming. Based on the ongoing research into the merits of gamification in education we use games as tools for academic study. Whether students engage in a rigorous classroom and exam regimen, or are simply looking for companion study tool to certification lessons our games make the perfect addition to your formula for study success.
What makes our games so unique is the style of play that our members encounter. Rather than using traditional educational game structures, we create role-playing games (RPG) involving customizable characters designed to help players study high-yield content through micro- and spaced- learning techniques. By issuing short bursts of information review in what would typically be a non-learning activity players are challenged to interact with the material outside their comfort zone and in a more engaging setting.
